Shade Sail Installation Guide
    1. Lay sail on the floor in the approximate position under the correct connection points with the seams and turnovers facing up. This will give the sail a smooth and neater appearance underneath.
    2. The points with shackles (not turnbuckles) only should be connected first.
    3. Next, the corners with turnbuckles should be attached. If you need to use a piece of rope to pull the corners to where you can attach the turnbuckles. Make sure the turnbuckles are at full extension. Do not tighten yet.
    4. Connect all points leaving the tension cable exit point (the point with the wire grips around the tension cable) until last. These grips may need a small release to allow the exit point to be attached. Tighten the grips at this point.
  1. To prevent the stainless turnbuckles binding up use some lubricant i.e. anti-seize…
  2. Now you can tension each corner a bit at a time. Take your time to make sure the sail pulls out evenly. The sail is designed to have each corner hold equal amounts of load. Do not pull one corner all the way in before tightening the others.
  3. Stop tightening when the sail is smooth and firm. An extra tightening may be required in a few weeks’ time. Do not over tighten the sail or conversely leave the sail loose. Your sail will last many years with correct treatment.

Maintenance Tips and Important Information:

Cleaning, it is wise to get rid of bird/bat droppings, and any dirt or leaves that have not blown off by wind/ rain. Similar to a car paint job, it can wear out prematurely if third-party materials or agents are left unattended. Please note degradation due to third-party agents or materials affecting the material is not covered in the manufactures or company warranty against UV degradation.

  • Do not use a pressure cleaner on your shade sail, you could blast away the fibres that hold the shade together, if any damage is caused by a pressure cleaner, it is not covered under the warranty
  • Use a soft broom, everyday hose, and a non-caustic soap
  • Keep away from fires, holes from burning embers can damage shade sails, even if the shade sails are fire-retardant or contain self-extinguishing properties
